Today and tomorrow, several local powerlifters will be competing for state titles in their weight classes.

Varnado and Franklinton are the local teams that have powerlifting teams.

Varnado, a Division V team, is going for state titles today, as all four of its lifters qualified for state.

Chris Kimble, Travon Stokes, Darien Vargas and Andre Jones will compete for state titles today.

Franklinton, a Division II squad, saw six of its lifters reach state and the Demons are competing tomorrow.

Five boys and one girl made it state for Franklinton.

The boys are Stevie Thompson, Joe Magee, Josh Gubert, Alex Kennedy and Josh Brewster.

The female state qualifier for Franklinton is Alexa Barber.

The action takes place at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
