Tessie Rogers

Tessie Mizell Rogers, 92, a resident of Isabel, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Riverside Medical Center.
She worked at the Mizell Grocery Store in Isabel for 23 years and also at Hall’s Catfish House for 12 years. Tessie was a faithful member of Berry’s Creek Pentecostal Church for 60 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flowers. She also enjoyed completing word puzzles and quilting. She was a great cook that loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by: two daughters and a son-in-law, Paulette Jenkins of Isabel, and Denise and Travis Thomas of Thomas; son and daughter-in-law, Martin “L.B.” Rogers and James Henri Rogers of Franklinton; six grandchildren and spouses; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister and brother-in-law, Odeal and Vester Sharp of Stony Point; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Rita Mizell of Franklinton, and Huey and Gloria Mizell of Isabel; sisters-in-law, Delorice Mizell of Isabel, and Lillie Mae Byers of Covington; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Freddie Rogers; parents, Luther Mizell and Lillie Carpenter Mizell; sisters, Mary Pugh, Mae Dutruch, Alda Sharp; and brothers Tom Mizell, O.J. Mizell and Thad Mizell.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, March 11, at the First Apostolic Church (formerly Berry’s Creek Church), 54112 Highway 60, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Willie Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Mizell Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Bush, Jeremy Whaley, Daniel Sabillon, Jonathan Freeman, Marty Rogers and Taylor Smith.
