Bullen showed great character to my dad

Dear Editor,
I would like to congratulate Kendall Bullen, newly chosen chief of the Bogalusa Police Department.
In October 2015, I received a 2 a.m. phone call from Capt. Bullen, who with a ride-along partner (Penton), was patrolling Dad’s neighborhood. They spotted Dad in his front yard — his clothes were moist with dew from the night air. This was the beginning of health decline due to dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Dad couldn’t figure how to get back into the house. At first Dad didn’t want to co-operate with Capt. Bullen. Unable to get him into the house, Capt. Bullen placed a blanket around him and then called me.
Capt. Bullen displayed such kindness and compassion, not only to Dad, but to me as well, for I was surprised, sad and upset we had reached this point in Dad’s health. We knew what was to come and had not expected it to be so rapid.
From that incident on when on the midnight shift, Capt. Bullen would ride the neighborhood making sure all were safe. Thank you!
In the early morning hour on Dec. 23, 2015, Dad passed away… we miss him.
In memory of Willie Ray Creel.
