Earl Briggs

At the age of 77, Earl Kerry Briggs was called to his eternal home on Dec. 7, 2016. He died peacefully at Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

Earl K. Briggs, son of the Kate Amos Briggs Sr. and the late Rosia Lee Burkhalter Briggs, was born in Washington Parish on Nov. 2, 1939. He was the oldest of six children. Earl joined church at an early age at Crystal Springs A.M.E. Church.

On Jan. 22, 1969, he was united in holy matrimony to Curtis Lee Commadore and from this union four children were born. In 1971, they joined Plainview Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. under the leadership of Elder Jessie Augurson. The current pastor is Elder Albert J. Brumfield Jr.

His memories will be cherished by his devoted wife of 47 years, Mrs. Curtis Lee Commadore Briggs; two sons, Randy (Michelle) Briggs of Hammond, and Keith (Carletta) Briggs of Mt. Hermon; two daughters, Tammy (Patrick) Williams Briggs, and Pamela (David) James, both of Mt. Hermon; two brothers, Randall Briggs of Pensacola, Fla., and Willie (Myrtis) Briggs of Mt. Hermon; two sisters, Roberta Taylor of Franklinton and Cynthia Brumfield of Tangipahoa; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Amos Briggs Sr. and Rosia Lee Burkhalter Briggs; his youngest brother, Amos Briggs Jr.; and 11 brothers-in-law.

The visitation will be Friday, Dec. 16, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Plainview Church of Christ Holiness in Mt. Hermon, with Eld. Albert Brumfield officiating. The interment will be held at Plainview Cemetery.
