David Jackson Jr.

David Charles Jackson Jr., affectionately known as “Chuckie,” left this world on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1957, in Bogalusa, to the late Eula Mae Clark and David Jackson Sr. He married the love of his life, Paria Hunter Jackson, in 1989. Together, they raised their two sons, Travis Hunter and Hiram Hunter.
He was an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. There he served as president of the church choir, superintendent of Sunday School, and member of both the Brotherhood and Prayer Band ministries.
He was a 1976 graduate of Bogalusa High School. After graduation, he attended Job Corps in Oklahoma City, Okla. After over 25 years of employment, he retired from the Bogalusa Community Medical Center in 2012.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Paria Jackson of Bogalusa; one son, Travis (Shronda) Hunter of Denham Springs; one grandchild, Sydney Hunter of Denham Springs; 10 brothers, LeRoy (Charlotte) Jackson of Oklahoma City, Calvin Jackson, David Scott (Kim) Jackson and Marvin Freightman, all of Atlanta, Ga., Greg (Terry) Mangrum and Frederick (Evette) Mangrum, both of Bogalusa, Kennie (Tracy) Jackson, Mark (Nanette) Jackson, Andre Jackson and Myron Jackson, all of Gulfport, Miss.; eight sisters, Julia Jackson and Janice Jackson of New Orleans, Grace Elaine Jackson and Lena Foster of Bogalusa, and Tiffany Martin, Danquesha Mikell, Tonya Jackson, Jackie (Donald) Bell, all of Gulfport; two aunts, Mary Jackson and Charlotte (John) Pierre, both of Bogalusa; one sister-in- law, Sonuya Mearidy (Felix) of Tangipahoa; along with a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Jackson and Eula Mae Clark; his son, Hiram Hunter; his grandmothers, Lucy Brister and Julia Jackson; three uncles, Robert Brister, Charles Brister and Howard Brister; his mother in law, Edna Mae Hunter; and one sister-in-law, Youlanda Hunter.
Visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, from 10 a.m. until time for service at 11 a.m. The service is being held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, located at 841 E. Sixth St., in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Hart officiating. Interment will follow in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
