Museum’s reopening is a positive sign

Although rain is in the forecast for the weekend, we know at least one fun indoor activity this weekend — the grand opening of the Cassidy Park Museums in their new home.

The museums consolidated to a single location at 750 Ave. F. The new home may not be as large as the spaces in Cassidy Park, but the location is beautiful and the local history is still just as important to our community as it was before the flood.

The March flooding was historic in its depth and destruction and of course everything is not yet back to normal. However, as we see recovery, bit by bit, we see reason for optimism.

First the park re-opened. Then the senior center. Now the museums.

We may not have wanted it, but the flood is part of our history. But let’s remember, the recovery effort is also part of our story. You don’t want to miss that.

The museum’s grand opening begins at 10 a.m. and will run through 2 p.m.
