Joyce Carter

Joyce Sheridan Carter, 73, a resident of Denham Springs, died early Monday morning, Oct. 10, 2016, at the Harvest Manor nursing home.

She was a native of Washington Parish and a graduate of Pine High School. Due to her career, Joyce lived in Baton Rouge and the Mobile, Ala., area for many years but also got to travel to many different locations, which she enjoyed very much.

She loved gardening for vegetables, flowers and the numerous pretty green plants she kept at her home. Joyce also enjoyed fishing and visiting the casino with family and friends to play her favorite slot machines. She cherished all the time spent with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by: four sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Monica Carter of Baton Rouge; Alan and Lisa Carter of Denham Springs; Steven and Chrissy Carter of New Zealand; and Kenny and Rhonda Carter of Denham Springs; six grandchildren and a spouse, Hunter Carter, Savannah Carter, Peyton Uhrbach, Justin Carter, Tiffani Carter, and Ashley and Darryl Clark; four great-grandsons, Blaise Carter, Landyn Carter, Billy Clark and Joshua Clark; two expected great-grandchildren, very soon Korbyn Carter and baby girl Carter in November; longtime companion, Charles Morris of Decatur, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Don Seal of Pine; and two nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by: grandson, Tyler Carter; her parents, Alton Sheridan and Rena Rester Sheridan; a brother, Milfred Sheridan; and a nephew, Larry Sheridan.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery.
