Louis Torregrossa

Louis Otto Torregrossa, 73, of Queensbury, N.Y., passed away at his home on March 16, 2016, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Bogalusa on Aug. 28, 1942, he was the son of the late R. Emile (Teddy) Torregrossa and Ethel Zuelke Torregrossa.
Louis grew up in Bogalusa, graduating from Bogalusa High School in 1960. He went on to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana Tech. In 1964, he was awarded a fellowship to the Institution of Paper Chemistry of Lawrence University, from which he earned a Master’s Degree.
Upon graduating from college, Louis went to work in the paper industry as a chemical engineer, a career that would last his lifetime. His last 15 years were spent working for Kamyr, Inc. and then Ahlstrom Machinery, Inc. in Glens Falls, N.Y., from which he retired.
Louis was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Glens Falls.
In 1964, Louis married the love of his life, Martha Crow, in Bossier City.
Louis enjoyed using his natural gifts as a thinker and problem solver in his career, as well as his hobbies. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, biking and especially gardening. He also loved cooking and traveling and enjoyed seeing new places. Most of all, Louis loved spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife Martha Torregrossa; his sons, Robert and Joshua of Seattle, Wash.; his sisters, Priscilla T. Stowe (Wilmer) of Lewisburg, Pa., Mary T. Miller (James) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; his brother, Robert Torregrossa (Dru) of Elkton, Md.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held on May 30, 2016, in Glens Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
