Janice Davenport

Janice Loretta Davenport, a long-term resident of Brandon, Miss., departed this life unexpectedly on Sept. 19, 2016.
Janice was born Aug. 6, 1961, in Bogalusa, and was a lifelong area resident until she later became a resident of Brandon. She attended Bogalusa High School and was a graduate of the class of 1981. At an early age, she relocated to Brandon, where she met and united in matrimony with her husband, William Davenport. On Oct. 31, 1991, she welcomed her son, Cory Davenport, into the world, who was a very important part of her life. Janice was a devoted wife, as well as a devoted mother.
She is survived by her husband, William Davenport; one son, Cory Davenport; two step-sons, Terreak and Sheriff Davenport; one step-daughter, Towana Hickman; her mother, Lillie Mae Curtis of Bogalusa; one brother, Donnie Curtis of Bogalusa; two sisters, Lorraine Austin and husband Marvin Sr. of Bogalusa, and Sherolyn Curtis; three nephews, Keith Merrill of Bogalusa, Marvin Austin Jr. of Bogalusa, and Brandy Austin (Shondarion) of Bogalusa; one niece, Shaneika Merrill of Slidell; two great-nephews, Jaylen Brickmore and Matthew Austin of Bogalusa; two great-nieces, Je’nequa Thomas of Baton Rouge and Sydney Ewing of Slidell; one great-great-nephew, LaDarrius Robinson Jr. of Baton Rouge; two great-great-nieces, A’Niya Robinson and Kyla Thomas, both of Baton Rouge; one aunt, Eva Dell Villery of Dallas, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Martha Dillon; and her sister, Katherine Elaine Merrill.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa at 11 a.m., with Minister Marvin Austin Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa and Dean Memorial Funeral Home of Brandon are in charge of arrangements.
