Earnest Harry Sr.

Earnest Edward Harry Sr., of Angie, parted this life Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Ochsner IC Unit in Slidell.

Earnest was born to the late Jason and Lottie Harry on Aug. 13, 1941. He was a retired construction worker and lifelong Angie resident. Earnest enjoyed farm life and tending to his many farm animals.

On Sept. 30, 1963, he married his loving wife, Gladys Ramsey.

He is survived by: his five children, Earnest Harry of Hattiesburg, Miss., Sylvia Harry, Kenneth Harry Sr. and Cynthia (Charlie) Bullock, all of Angie, and Mimi (Kenneth) Perkins-Magee of Hattiesburg; a special sister-in-law, Jean (Billy) Smoot of Bogalusa; three sisters, Annie (Willie) Bishop, Emma Harry and Rosa White, all of Angie; three brothers, Leroy (Thelma) Harry of Benton, Cleotha (Charlene) Harry of New Orleans and William (Dorothy) Harry of Georgia; 10 grandchildren, one special grandson Jonathan Spikes Sr. whom he and his loving wife raised, Kenneth Claiborne Jr. of Hammond, Rhonda Harry of Florida, Keneshia (Dustin) Sumrall of Varnado, Jamal Magee Sr. of Hattiesburg, Normekia Bullock of Angie, Jayla Magee of Hattiesburg, Ja’Nayia Harry, Kenneth Harry Jr. and Layla Harry, all of Angie; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Jason and Lottie Harry; three sisters, Rovella Harry Martin, Christine Harry Magee and Laura Harry Brown; and two brothers, Sylvester “Mose” Harry and Tillie Harry.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 23, from noon until 2 p.m. at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church. The processional will begin at 2 p.m.
