The football season is upon us.
Some teams are getting to face another opponent for the first time, as LHSAA teams are having their scrimmages this week. Bogalusa traveled to Chalmette.
Franklinton was scheduled to host Slidell yesterday, but that scrimmage has been pushed back until today at 5:30 p.m. and it’s still at FHS. Also today, Pine heads to Jewel Sumner to face the Cowboys and Varnado takes to the road to Independence in a multiple-team scrimmage.
For Ben’s Ford Christian School, it’s opening night. The Eagles are on the road, traveling to Wilkinson County Christian Academy to play against the defending Class AA champion. Ben’s Ford struggled last year, going 1-9, but the win was against WCCA.
Bowling Green has a bye this week and begins the regular season next week.
The college football season is also getting closer.
In the NFL, the New Orleans Saints began their preseason last week, as the Black-and-Gold are preparing for what they hope will be a great 50th season.
Football fans have the opportunity to win season tickets, as the Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce 10th annual Saints Raffle Tickets are available for purchase. The cost is $25 per ticket and the drawing is tonight at 6 p.m. at Yoyo’s on Louisiana Avenue.
