Benny Joe Hathorne Sr., 81, born on March 30, 1935, in Bogalusa, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at his residence in Bogalusa.

He was a United States veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edwina Delores Hathorne of Bogalusa; five daughters, Reannette (Daniel) Thomas of Thomas, Becky (Michael) Knight of Bogalusa, Melinda (Chris) Bickham of Mandeville, and Beverly (Buddy) Magee and Connie (Paul) Miller, both of Pine; one son, Benny Hathorne Jr. of Bogalusa; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Patrick Magee officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
