Herbert Wayne Smith, born April 5, 1952, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at the age of 64.

He was a resident of Bogalusa and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Poplarville, Miss., and the Bogalusa American Legion Post 24. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army.

He leaves behind a daughter, April Lynn Smith Pitre of Houma; two brothers, Bobby (Diane) Smith of Millry, Ala., and Donny (Nina Kaye) Stevison of Poplarville; two sisters, Nelda Janet Anderson of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Deborah Jean Atwood of Seminary, Miss.; two grandchildren, LenaClaire Pitre and Carson Paul Pitre; and other family members and friends.

He is preceded by his parents, Herbert Hoover Smith and Elizabeth Riles Smith.

Visitation will be held in Brown-McGehee Funeral Home beginning at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and will resume Saturday, June 4, after 8 a.m. until the service time at 10 a.m. After religious services, the interment will follow at the Pomenah Cemetery in the veterans’ section.

Military honors will be conducted by the Bogalusa Magic City American Legion Post 24.
