Over the last two weeks, track athletes in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and Mississippi Association of Independent Schools have been competing to advance to the state championships.

Washington Parish has several athletes heading to the state meet across four of the classifications.

In order to reach state, they had to finish in the top four of their events at their district meet and then come in the top three at regional.

The state meets take place May 5 (Class B and C), May 6 (Classes 1A and 2A) and May 7 (Classes 3A, 4A and 5A) at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of LSU.

In MAIS, several Bowling Green athletes are competing in South State tomorrow at Silliman Institute. The top four from those events reach the Class AAA Meet, which is next week.
