Rahm Emanuel once said, “never let a crisis go to waste.” And so it goes. The absolute travesty that is the condition of Rio Grande Street in Bogalusa will be an election issue, the next go around.

Again, it will probably not affect the city government officials responsible. It never has. Those seem to be lifetime appointments. But woe be unto the politicians. The city has come through some bad times recently and a lot of you would criticize even the mention of a roadway being in ill repair — or should I say non-existent, in the case of Rio Grande Street.

My feelings are still the same. Whoever made the decision to destroy that street needs to be fired or recalled as applicable.
