Homegoing services for one of God’s children, Mrs. Mary L. Canonge, 95, who died on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Courtyard Manor in Lafayette, were held on Monday March 14, at 11 a.m. at Crain & Sons Funeral Home, 309 E. 3rd St. in Bogalusa.

Mrs. Canonge was a member of Salter Chapel A.M.E. Church for many years before moving to Lafayette, to be with her family. Mary was an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years and positively affected the lives of countless people in and around the Bogalusa area. She was buried in Bogalusa Cemetery immediately following the services.

Mrs. Canonge is survived by her two loving daughters, Mrs. Sue Ganier and her husband Greg of Lafayette, and Mrs. Peggy Olinde and her husband Gary of Marrero; her six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Her love and comforting words will be missed by the family.
