Washington Parish is represented in LHSAA regional round play, as three local teams captured playoff victories last week.

Bogalusa, the District 7-3A champion, won in exciting fashion over No. 14 Union Parish, 34-29.

The Lumberjacks completed a 75-yard pass to take the lead with less than two minutes remaining and then the defense forced a turnover on downs with two seconds left in the game to seal the victory.

Bogalusa, the 19th-seeded team, plays in the regional round tonight against No. 3 Jena.

Franklinton, which captured the District 8-4A championship this season, was victorious over No. 23 Breaux Bridge, 39-17, last week.

The Demons had a 17-7 lead in the first half, but Breaux Bridge came back to tie the game at 17-17 by halftime.

Franklinton took the lead, 24-17, in the third quarter before adding two more touchdowns en route to the 39-17 win.

The 10th-seeded Demons are on the road tonight, playing seventh-seeded Minden.

In Class 1A, Varnado was a 48-8 winner over No. 19 Tensas.

The Wildcats were up, 12-8, before tallying the game’s final 36 points.

No. 14 Varnado takes to the road tonight and goes against third-seeded Haynesville.

There is lots of good playoff football tonight and we wish Bogalusa, Franklinton and Varnado good luck.
