Reader says getting finances straight imperative

Dear Editor:

Earlier this year financial records showed that the city was “bleeding” $300,000 a month. This means we were spending $300,000 more than we were bringing in.
The mayor presented to the Bond Commission a plan to rectify the situation. The Watchdog Report was compiled after carefully examining the plan and obtaining public documents. I found many errors, each supported by documentation. I presented the report to the City Council in hopes that they would work with the mayor in revising the plan. In my view, the only way to stop the bleeding is to cut spending and increase income.
Many city issues such as road repairs depend on finances. This is where we have to start.
The mayor is welcome to her opinion as to my motivation in making the report. The Watchdog Report along with supporting documentation may be viewed by going to www.goodgovbogalusa.com and clicking on Watchdog Report.
The report is also available at the library for those who prefer to read a handheld copy.
