Rose Anna Johnson Alexander, age 95, a resident of Kentwood, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015, at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Dan Alexander Jr. and Leonard Alexander of Tangipahoa; five daughters, Ann (Harold) Smith and Donnise (Milton) Gordon, both of Kentwood, Mona (Ralph) Downs and Margaret Alexander, both of Tangipahoa, and Celeste Huley of Olympia, Wash.; five brothers, Kermit Coleman of Kentwood, Bobbie (Ruth) Smith of New Orleans, Cleo Johnson of McComb, Miss., Freddie Johnson of Amite and Otto (Berneada) Johnson Jr. of Independence; five sisters, Mable (Lonnie) Jackson, Flora Varnado and Janie Buckner of Tangipahoa, Mary (Ado) McMorris of Hammond and Amelia Dyson of Fluker, La.; one devoted daughter-in-law, Letha H. Alexander of Kentwood; one son-in-law, Dave Dupree of Independence; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Alexander Sr.; parents, Agnes and Otto Johnson; two sons, James and Donald Ray Alexander; two daughters, Lorraine and Ivynell Womack Dupree; eight brothers, Plato, Toby, Willie, Nephus, Claude, Richard, Woodrow and James Johnson; three sisters, Marie Smith, Mary Magdalene and Johnnie Mae Smith; two grandchildren, Connie and Cassandra Alexander; and one great-grandchild, Malaysia Garner.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at Quinn Chapel AME Church, 70198 Martin Luther King Dr., Tangipahoa, with Pastor Grimes as pastor.
