Mitchell Laverne Johnson, age 33, of Bogalusa, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at his residence.

Mitchell Johnson was a true friend to many people. He had a kind-hearted spirit. One of his passions was contributing to his community. Mitchell was a prime example of how to be a servant of the Lord. Mitchell will be truly missed by his family, friends and the community.

Mitchell leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother, Ernestine Brister of Bogalusa; sisters, Tekeisha (John) Ard and Keona (Eddie) Johnson of Bogalusa and Sonya (Omar) Latimer of Bolingbrook, Ill.; nieces, Takia Ard of Covington, Amaya and Jasmine Johnson, both of Bogalusa, and Kylah and Jayla Latimer of Bolingbrook; nephews, Laderious Rashad Johnson, Javontay Owens, Eddie Johnson IV and Rodrick Johnson, all of Bogalusa;

uncles, Willie A. Johnson, Robert E. Johnson, Larry Johnson, Jean Jackson and Minister Alton Johnson, all Bogalusa; aunts, Williestine Watson of Atlanta, Emma Gatlin, Charlotte (Stefon) Gibson and Christine Moses, all of Bogalusa, Tonya (Fred) Bickham of Columbia Miss., and Johnnie Titia Lewis of Baton Rouge.

Mitchell Johnson was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ray Brister; cousin and best friend, Senior Airman Myron Roderick Harriel; his uncle, Johnnie Lee Johnson; aunt, Christine May; great-grandparents, Hosie and Etta Mckelphin; aunt, Ms. Ernestine Austin Young; and two great uncles, Mr. Herbert and Willie B. Mckelphin.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, from 10 a.m. until noon at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The funeral services will be at 1040 Avenue E, ChristWay Ministries Church, at 2 p.m. in Bogalusa, with Pastor Michael Oree officiating. Interment will be held in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
