Jerry Breland

Jerry Turhan Breland, age 65 and a resident of Pine, died early Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at his home.

He was a former U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam era and a longtome member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry retired as a mechanic after 30 years of service with Crown-Zellerbach and Cavenham. He loved fishing and cherished all the time he could spend turkey hunting. He also enjoyed quail hunting and working with the quail dogs. Jerry was always a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gwen Gerald Breland of Pine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Shane Turhan Breland and Alicia Beth Breland of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Damon Jerry Breland and Lauren Donielle Breland of McNeil, Miss., and Joshua Crain Breland and Holly Darity Breland of Franklinton; nine grandchildren and spouse, Aaron Turhan Breland, Courtney Nicole Breland, Tyler Jerry Breland and Kristie Cheyenne Breland, Sarah Abigail Breland, Bailey Foster, Ty Foster, Shaun Michael Breland, Noah Joshua Breland and Braxton Cain Breland; brother and sister-in-law, William Karonm Breland and Debbie Breland of Pine; sister and brother-in-law, Dewanna and Edgar Pounds of Pine; stepsisters and stepbrother, Belinda Stringer, Jill and Morris Spears and Tony Stringer; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Doris Taylor Jarrell and Wilford Jarrell; and father and stepmother, Mack William Breland and Faye Stringer Breland.

Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Richard Magee, Bro. Brent King and Bro. Clyde Cooper officiating.
