Debra D. Lee

Debra Duncan Lee, age 61 and a resident of Thomas, died on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was in UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas awaiting a double lung transplant. She was born Oct. 27, 1952. Debra was a faithful member of Thomas Baptist Church.
An educator, Debra spent many years teaching in the Washington Parish and Livingston Parish school systems and later transferred to Buras, where she retired from the Plaquemines Parish School Board Central Office in December 2010. During her teaching career, she was actively involved in many educational organizations, including the Louisiana Reading Association. She was loved by her former students and fellow educators as has been evident by the unwavering support and prayers offered by so many.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Leland F. Lee Jr.; one daughter, Angie Delozier of Walker; two sons and daughters-in law, Brad and Lisa Lee of Denham Springs and Clint and Savannah Lee of Thomas; five precious grandchildren, Logan Stratford, Kristen Delozier, Madison Guyllette, Duncan Lee and Randi Lee; two sisters and their spouses, Libby and Linus Magee and Jan and Reed Riley; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Carolyn and Glenn Hoover and Lynette and Charlie Salmon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace E. Duncan and Hilda Pittman Duncan; a son-in-law, Jay Delozier; her father-in-law, Leland F. Lee Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Gladys Dinkens Lee.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Thomas Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until time for service at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Sandy Sherman and the Rev. Michael Drury officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
