Dorothy Ella Welch Wood, age 82 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 , at her home. She was a graduate of Franklinton High School and a renowned hairdresser in the Mandeville and Covington areas. Dorothy was the owner of the former Pizzazz and Razz-Ma-Tazz hair salons. She was an avid outdoorswoman who enjoyed fishing most of all. She had a special place in her heart for her pet chihuahua, Molly. Her greatest accomplishment was being a devoted mother to her three children, who love her dearly and will miss her greatly.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and David Quintana of Walker and Donna and John Wolff of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren, John Quintana, Amber Quintana, Tonya Halford, Jessica Spence, Linda “ReRe” Spears, Bobby Spears III, Tyler Williams, Powers Wolff IV, Richard Wolff and Diana Wolff; eight great-grandchildren; and son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Tina Corkern of Franklinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wood, her parents, John Carter Welch and Ruby Crowe Welch, and a sister, Frankie Stringfield.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday, June 6, from 10 a.m. until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, with Dr. Gene Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Hezekiah Magee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Memory Walkers Alzheimers Foundation c/o Flower Fund, 411 Boat Ramp Road, Franklinton, LA 70438.
