Continue being diligent until deep freeze ends

Bogalusa and Washington Parish public works crews have been busy during this winter storm, working all night to try and keep our roadways and bridges safe fortravel.
The Sheriff ’s Office reported a handful of accidents, none with injuries, and all parties have complimented the public on heeding advice to remain indoors.
While today’s temperatures were expected to be above freezing for several hours, a deep freeze is returning tonight. And that means more trouble for area roads and bridges as any ice and moisture that melts during the day may refreeze.
Being inside and off the roads is one less thing our law enforcement agencies have to worry about.
So as evening falls, and as long as youare asked to remain off the roads, continue doing so.
And when you need to be out on the roadway, remember to allow extra time to reach your destination, allow extra space between vehicles, reduce your speed, use your low beam headlights, do not drive using your cruise con rol, anticipate stops and brake gently and make sure all occupants of your vehicle are properly restrained.
Stay safe and stay warm. And when this deep freeze is over, thank our police, deputies and public works employees for the excellent jobs they’ve done to keep us safe.
