Lester Owen Turner Sr.

Lester Owen Turner Sr., 63, a resident of Franklinton born Nov. 27, 1949, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. at his home.
He was the longtime owner/operator of Parish Insulators and enjoyed gardening and listening to his favorite old-time rock and roll. Lester was a very friendly person who never met a stranger. He loved visiting with those he met and most importantly spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Turner of Franklinton; five sons and daughters-in-law: Van and Frances Varnado of Franklinton, Michael and Jessie Turner of Townsend, Tenn., Jeremy Turner of Covington, Lester O. “Terry” Turner Jr. and Tracy Turner of Franklinton and Chris Turner of Hattiesburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and Allen Burris of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Varnado, Harrison Turner, Ian Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Hunter Turner, Kaylee Turner, William Turner, Kody Turner, Kenzie Burris and Payton Burris; his adopted father, Ira Thomas of Georgia; his adopted mother, Virginia Thomas of Leaksville, Miss.; two sisters, Bernice Wilson of Ashford, Ala. and Patsy Arrington of Dothen, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Geraldine Turner of Gulfpress, Ala. and Melvin and Barbara Turner of Deer Park, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Mae Heads and Stanley Turner.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 5-9 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home and will resume Wednesday at 9 a.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Denny Brumfield and Rev. Nathan Firman officiating. Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Wayne Fruge, Tim Haik, Ben Wood, Chandler Fitzmorris, Gary Burch and Allen Burris. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Turner, Ian Turner, Kody Turner, Harrison Turner, William Turner, Wayne Fleming and Ben Thomas.
