ALFORD

Wayne Eugene Alford, 71, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his home in Mt. Hermon.

Born March 15, 1942, he was a longtime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired as a pipefitter with the Local 198 and was also a retired dairyman who enjoyed spending his time drinking coffee and visiting with friends at Brooks’ Café. Wayne was well known as a kind and friendly neighbor who would help others any way that he could.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sue Alford of Mt. Hermon; a son, David Alford of Mt. Hermon; two daughters, Patty Alford of Mt. Hermon and Kristi (William) Morgan of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren, Trenton Alford, Mason Alford, Alex Brock, Wesley Morgan and Kyla Morgan. a sister, Emma McDaniel and her friend Jack Rainey, both of Baton Rouge; a brother, Hughie (Betty) Alford of Hammond; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Creason Alford and Claudia McElveen Alford.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Crain Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. James Kemp officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
