THOMAS

Christine Thomas, 67, a resident of the Pine/Thomas Community, died Saturday morning, May 18, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Angie.

She was born July 11, 1945, and was the owner/operator of the Plaza Beauty Shop in Franklinton for many years, along with her best friend, Jeanette Pace. She was married to Douglas Thomas and after the birth of her three daughters she went back to college and became a teacher in 1989. She was a special education teacher throughout her entire career with the Washington Parish School Board and was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Pam Ard, Kim Jones and Ginger Thomas; three grandchildren and spouses, Kandace and Derrick McKenzie, Troy Ann and Darryl Singleton and Kelsie Jones; three great-grandchildren, Aniston McKenzie, Adelyn McKenzie and Bentley Singleton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Devon and Delores Thomas and Jimmy Earl and Diane Thomas; one nephew and spouse, Jason and Heidi Thomas; one niece and spouse, April and Joe Ard; and four great-nephews, D.J. Thomas, Devin Thomas, Jayden Ard and Jaxen Ard.

Her parents, Delos E. Thomas and Myrtle Spears Thomas, and an infant sister, Bertha Lee Thomas, preceded her in death.

Visitation was held Sunday, May 19 at Crain Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. and continued on Monday from 9 a.m. until time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Harold Gaddy and Eld. Donnie Broome officiating. Burial followed in the Thomas Cemetery.
