YOUR VIEW: Crossing guard harassing motorists

Published 12:00 am Friday, December 28, 2012

On Dec. 12, I drove south on South Columbia Street, passing through the school zone. That was an experience!

The posted signs clearly read 25 mph. I was driving at 22 mph when, from the west came a crossing guard, running out into the street, flapping a stop sign up and down at a 90-degree angle and blowing a whistle.

This almost caused a bad accident from all four lanes of traffic slamming on their brakes. The law-abiding citizens driving on South Columbia Street deserve better than this.

To be obeying the law but having the threat of a ticket and by being verbally abused like a criminal is very humiliating!

Just mention the school zone on South Columbia Street to anyone, and they have a horror story.

I am all for watching out for the children, but I refuse to continually be harassed when I am obeying the law! No one seems to care that the taxpayers are being harassed on a daily basis.

If you are experiencing the same problem, please take time to write to the editor.
