Bogalusa Rebirth, a community revitalization project, will have a “Housing Resource Fair” at Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, and sponsorships are available.
The church is located at 510 Ave. B.
Citizens are invited to attend the fair to learn to be a first-time homeowner, how to get a clear title on heir property, and to learn about programs to make repairs to a current home.
“Today marks the one year anniversary of the great achievement of our organization entering into a cooperative endeavor agreement with the city of Bogalusa for the donation of adjudicated properties,” executive director Wendy Williams said Wednesday. “We are proud to announce that, since then, we have received a conditional commitment from Louisiana Housing Corporation for the development of four single-family homes on the first lots that have been donated. We are currently awaiting environmental clearance, and anticipate construction to begin in the next 90 days.
“In addition to that, we are in the pre-development phase of another proposal to Louisiana Corporation that we are calling the ‘Sullivan Drive Aesthetic Corridor Project,’ which will include the donation of an additional eight adjudicated properties to be developed into affordable housing.”
Williams said that there were more than 100 attended the Housing Resource Fair in its inaugural year last year.
Sponsorship levels are Platinum at $500, Gold at $250, and Silver at $100.
Williams those who sponsor will be announced at the event, will be displayed on the Bogalusa Rebirth website and Facebook page. The organization is a 501(c)(3), so all donations are tax-exempt and tax-deductible.
