Reader impressed by swift work from city

Dear Editor:

On Sunday morning at around 8:20 a.m. I was going into Annunciation Catholic Church for 8:30 a.m. Mass when I noticed the stop sign at the intersection of West Fifth and Avenue B was knocked down by a careless motorist. I called the Bogalusa Police Department to report it, and I had every intention of tying it off to the pole after Mass so motorists would know they have to stop.

When Mass was over at around 9:30 a.m., the sign was already put back up.

The Bogalusa Police Department, Bogalusa Fire Department, the Public Works Department and the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office — all these agencies take great pride in keeping the citizens of this area safe, but it all starts with citizen involvement.

So the next time you catch yourself saying somebody ought to do something, remember you are somebody.

I would like to commend all of the city employees that got that stop sign put back up so quickly for avoiding an accident and keeping the public safe.
