Bogalusa High JROTC Raider Team named state champions

The Bogalusa High School Lumberjack BN JROTC Raider Team earned the title of “The 2024 State Raider Champions” after competing this weekend in the 2024 Louisiana State Raider Challenge. The competition consisted of two divisions: Army division, which was made up of 6 teams that had a total of 10 cadets made up of 6 male cadets and 4 female cadets; and All Service division, which was made up of 8 teams that had a total of 10 cadets made up of 8 male and 2 female cadets.
The first event was a 5K run and all teams were place in different groups and had a staggered time start between the groups. The other events consisted of a Physical Team Test (PTT) over a distance under ½ mile total using a variety of physical obstacles, an 85 foot
Rope Bridge over water, Cross Country Rescue (CCR) course roughly one mile in length through uneven terrain with obstacles, Raider Gauntlet is a one mile event through fairly level ground with numerous obstacles that require solid strategy to overcome. The last event consisted of each competing SCHOOL nominating one male and one female cadet to compete in the ULTIMATE RAIDER COMPETITION. This competition will be strictly an individual event among the most elite individual cadets attending the State Raider.
The competition was fierce and schools fought till the end to earn the title of State Champions. In both divisions there was a tie for first place and the tie breaker was the rope bridge time for each school. In the Army division third place went to Zachary HS, second place went to Northshore HS and 1 st place went to the Bogalusa HS Lumberjacks Raider Team. In the All Service division second place went to Walker HS A Team and 1 st place went to Walker HS B Team.
