FRANKLINTON, La. – A lengthy investigation by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office (WPSO) has culminated in the recovery of a stolen tractor and the issuance of arrest warrants for suspects involved in the theft.

The case, led by Detective Kevin Bond of the WPSO Criminal Investigations Division, began on May 16, 2023, after a tractor, attachments, and trailer were reported stolen. Progress was made following a collaborative effort with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, which received an anonymous tip leading to the location of the stolen tractor in a tin shed on Million Dollar Road.

The successful recovery was the result of Detective Bond’s persistent efforts and the subsequent investigation, which revealed significant details leading to the identification of suspects Mark Hunt and Jason Songer. Songer remains at large, with an active warrant for his arrest.

On February 29, 2024, an arrest operation was carried out at Mark Hunt’s residence, leading to his arrest and the recovery of the stolen trailer. Despite Hunt’s initial absence, his return to the property and subsequent admissions aided further advancements in the case.

The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office extended its gratitude to Detective Bond for his unwavering commitment to the case, and to the community and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office for their crucial support.
