WASHINGTON PARISH, La. – In light of the recent nationwide cellular service disruptions, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness are actively addressing concerns and ensuring continuous access to emergency services for all residents.

The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that despite the widespread cell service interruptions, the ability to reach emergency services by dialing 911 remains unaffected. “Your safety is our top priority, and access to 911 services is fully operational,” assured the department. For non-emergency matters, the public is encouraged to use the operational contact number (985) 839-3434, keeping in mind potential connection difficulties due to ongoing cell service issues.

The Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness has been informed by the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness of a nationwide cellular outage, primarily affecting communications with AT&T carriers. The issue, described as a routing problem rather than a tower or fiber concern, has led to sporadic service disruptions. AT&T is actively working on resolving the situation, though a timeline for restoration has not been provided.

Residents are urged to remain patient and utilize landlines or internet-based communication methods if available. The Washington Parish authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
