BOGALUSA, La. – AT&T has announced a significant expansion of its 5G network in Washington Parish, enhancing wireless connectivity for the community with the addition of a new cell tower on Saltlick Road. This development promises improved coverage, capacity, and access to what AT&T describes as America’s Most Reliable 5G Network.

The newly constructed AT&T 5G cell tower stands tall against the clear sky in Washington Parish, marking a new era of improved wireless service and connectivity for the local community.

State Senator Beth Mizell emphasized the expansion’s importance, stating, “An expanded digital network that connects Washington Parish to the rest of the world is critical for the safety and economic growth of our area. I am happy to see this new tower as a step to enhance that connectivity. This is a great step forward!”

The network upgrade is set to benefit local businesses and the broader community by facilitating more reliable and faster mobile internet connections. Washington Parish President Ryan Seal noted the positive impact on the local economy, saying, “Local businesses rely on their ability to stay connected while on the go, and through these investments in the Washington Parish communications network, we can open the door to greater opportunities in our business community.”

One of the key features of the expansion is the incorporation of Band 14 spectrum, reserved for FirstNet – a network dedicated to public safety. This band is described by AT&T as a “public safety’s VIP lane,” which can be exclusively accessed by FirstNet subscribers during emergencies, while also enhancing AT&T customer service during non-emergency periods.

Eric Jones, regional director of external affairs for AT&T Louisiana, highlighted the company’s commitment to connectivity, stating, “We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. And AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and secure connectivity to more than 295 million people in over 24,500 cities and towns nationwide.”

The network expansion in Washington Parish is part of AT&T’s broader investment in Louisiana, where the company has spent more than $1.3 billion on wireless and wireline networks from 2020 to 2022. These investments aim to enhance network reliability, coverage, speed, and overall performance for Louisiana residents and businesses.
