BOGALUSA, La. – The recent culinary and athletic festivities in Bogalusa not only showcased local talents but also fostered community spirit. Organized by the Bogalusa Parks, Recreation, and Culture Commission, the Chili Cook-Off and Cupid 5K Run brought residents together for a day of competitive fun and savory delights.

In the Chili Cook-Off, the Bogalusa Fire Department took the top honors, with the Bogalusa Animal Shelter and Barbara Alston following in second and third places, respectively. This event underscored the culinary skills and creativity within the community, highlighting a variety of chili recipes that warmed the hearts and taste buds of all attendees.

The Cupid 5K Run was equally thrilling, with Gabriel Jones crossing the finish line first, followed closely by Raymond Adams and Isiah Brown. The race was not just a test of speed and endurance but also of festive spirit. Gabriel Jones, in particular, received a special accolade for outpacing “Cupid,” earning a $50 cash prize and the unique opportunity to play the role of a reindeer in the upcoming December run.

These events were more than competitions; they were a celebration of the community’s unity and vibrancy. Both the Chili Cook-Off and the Cupid 5K Run exemplify the diverse ways in which the Bogalusa Parks, Recreation, and Culture Commission engages residents, encourages healthy and active lifestyles, and supports local causes.

Such gatherings are pivotal in strengthening community bonds and creating lasting memories. They also serve as a reminder of the importance of local involvement and the power of collective enjoyment. As Washington Parish looks forward to more events like these, the spirit of camaraderie and local pride continues to flourish.
