LSU AgCenter Welcomes Tammy Montgomery as New SNAP-ED Nutrition Educator

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. — The LSU AgCenter in Washington Parish is excited to announce the appointment of Tammy Montgomery as the new SNAP-ED Nutrition Educator. With over seven years of experience as a Nutrition Coordinator for Pearl River Valley Opportunity’s Head Start/Early Head Start program, Ms. Montgomery brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
In her previous position, Ms. Montgomery spearheaded various nutrition initiatives, including youth and adult nutrition lessons, cooking demonstrations, and the establishment of nutrition-based school and community gardens. Now, as the SNAP-ED Nutrition Educator, she will continue to offer these valuable programs and services to the community.
Ms. Montgomery’s primary focus is on assisting individuals and families who qualify for SNAP benefits and those with limited resources. She is dedicated to educating the community on making healthy diet and lifestyle choices, striving to promote overall well-being among residents.
As an enthusiastic educator, Ms. Montgomery delivers engaging nutrition and physical activity lessons, incorporating USDA guidelines, MyPlate, and other nutrition curriculums into her teachings. Through her efforts, the LSU AgCenter aims to foster a healthier community and empower individuals to take control of their health.
