Washington Parish Coalition on Human Services Installs 2024 Officers

The Washington Parish Coalition on Human Services (WPCHS) convened its January meeting at the ADAPT Office. Rusty Fornea presided over the installation of the 2024 officers for the coalition. Newly inducted officers include Paula Charles as president, Glory Davis as vice-president, Gloria Kates as 2nd vice-president, Cheryl Bruton as secretary, Stacy Hartzog as treasurer, Shawn Singletary as reporter, and Wendy Castillo as parliamentarian. Fornea serves as the Executive Director for WPCHS/ADAPT.

Sophia Robinson, Financial Capability Specialist at United Way SELA Prosperity Center, Bogalusa Campus, served as the guest speaker. Robinson highlighted that the United Way Prosperity Center is a comprehensive financial capability hub situated at 432 Avenue U, Bogalusa. The Center provides services such as financial education, coaching, counseling, credit counseling, credit building, and more. Operating hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Prosperity Center will host a Super Tax Day at the Bogalusa office on February 3, 2024, offering free income tax preparation services.

Attendees of the January meeting included Mignon Barnes, Cheryl Bruton, Wendy Castillo, Ginger Champagne, Paula Charles, Jason Fontenelle, Rusty Fornea, Rhonda Gunnell, Stacy Hartzog, Gloria Kates, Bobbie Kimbrell, Regina Meyerchick, Jana Pounds, Sophia Robinson, Angela Shuckhart, Ellenor Simmons, Shawn Singletary, and Sara St. Pierre, who were present in person. Via Zoom, attendees included Veronica Calderon, Alfreda Carter, Nicole Crain, Lauren Franklin, Kimberly Harris, Marty Hennegan, Rosa Locascio, Demond Lockhart, Shakisha McKay, Sunshyne Morris, Theresa Pham, Sarah Scanlon, Brittney Seteropolis, Contrissa Smith, Becky Stogner, Mecole Thompson, Dana Walker, Tiffany Whitley, and Morgan Wangerin.

The next scheduled meeting for WPCHS will take place on February 27, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the ADAPT Office, located at 216 Memphis Street, Bogalusa.
