18-Wheeler Tries to Outrun Train in Bogalusa

BOGALUSA, La. – In a daring attempt to outrun an oncoming train, a VSS Carriers Incorporated 18-wheeler found itself clipped on the back left side near Domino’s in Bogalusa.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident unfolded around 10:40 A.M., Wednesday, Jan. 24. at the Domino’s location in Bogalusa, where the driver of the VSS Carriers Incorporated 18-wheeler, whose driver was an African-American female, seemed determined to outrun an approaching train at a railroad crossing. According to Bogalusa Fire Chief Donald Ladner, the 18-wheeler tried to make it through the railroad crossing but did not get across in time.

Emergency services were quick to respond to the scene, where the collision resulted in scrapes on the back left side of the 18-wheeler and a messed-up tire. The train was moved out of the path of traffic soon after.

Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong said that he is looking into working with the company that owns the railroad line to install mechanical arms at the railroad crossing.
