Bogalusa High School Shooting Investigation Yields Multiple Arrests

BOGALUSA, La.  — The Bogalusa Police Department (BPD) has made substantial progress in the investigation into the shooting incident at Bogalusa High School on January 11, 2024, resulting in the tragic death of a 14-year-old and the injury of a 13-year-old.

In a press release issued on Monday, January 15, 2024, the BPD revealed extensive efforts to identify and apprehend all individuals connected to the incident. Detectives executed several residential search warrants, leading to the confiscation of numerous firearms and the recovery of vehicles believed to be linked to the homicide.

A significant development in the case involves the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile, who faces charges including First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and various firearm offenses. The BPD’s swift actions also resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old JaMichael Spikes, taken into custody hours after the shooting. Initially charged with Obstruction of Justice, Spikes now faces additional charges, including Principal to Attempted Second Degree Murder, Principal to Illegal Use of Weapons, and Principal to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

Adding to the list of apprehensions, 18-year-old Caleb Moss was arrested on January 14. Moss is charged with Obstruction of Justice, Accessory After the Fact of First Degree Murder, and 2 counts of Accessory After the Fact of Attempted First Degree Murder.

The press release indicates that numerous additional arrest warrants have been secured for individuals connected to the incident, with several more arrests anticipated in the near future.
