BOGALUSA, La. – A black lab remains at a Chevron station in Washington Parish, more than eight months after being left there, drawing significant attention and concern from the local community. The Chevron station, located at 63227 Highway 10 near Coconutz Daiquiri, has become the dog’s refuge since his abandonment along with a sibling, who was later rescued by animal control.

Melissa Sherrill, a teacher at Head Start in Bogalusa and a resident of Carriere, Mississippi, brought this issue to light. She, among others in the community, regularly provides the dog with food and water. Despite these efforts, the dog has shown wariness towards human contact, complicating rescue efforts.

Regulars at the Chevron station and its employees have joined in providing care for the dog, however, the ultimate goal of finding a secure and loving home for the dog remains unmet.
