BOGALUSA, La. – Mayor Tyrin Truong of Bogalusa has announced he will temporarily relinquish his duties following a multi-vehicle collision, necessitating a recovery period. As outlined in a detailed crash report, the incident occurred on Hwy 53 and involved multiple vehicles.

The crash report clarifies that the incident occurred when a vehicle traveling south on Highway 53 struck a second vehicle from behind, leading to a chain-reaction crash impacting Mayor Truong’s car. Reflecting on the accident, Mayor Truong shared, “A car in front of us braked abruptly, we were able to stop but then a truck hit us going 50mph. Super sore and bruised up.”

Adhering to Bogalusa’s Charter, Council President Kellis will act as the mayor during Mayor Truong’s temporary absence, scheduled from December 29, 2023, to January 5, 2024.
