Shawn Landry, 25, was apprehended in Las Vegas by the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, with assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, for a series of crimes committed in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. The arrest addresses charges of second-degree rape, attempted second-degree murder, home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, simple assault, and false imprisonment.
On November 23, 2023, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary in progress call from a home on Beech Street near Slidell. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an abandoned vehicle, still running, with the driver’s side door open. Landry was seen fleeing the scene, evading immediate capture despite a search involving deputies and K9 units.
A female victim inside the home provided a harrowing account to investigators. She reported that Landry had held her hostage, repeatedly raped her, strangled her to unconsciousness, and physically abused her. He also forcefully re-entered the residence after being locked out, taking her phone and vehicle.
On December 19, 2023, following an investigation and with warrants issued for his arrest, Landry was located and arrested at a Las Vegas-area apartment complex after briefly barricading himself inside. He is currently detained at the Clark County Detention Center, pending extradition to Louisiana to face his charges.
The authorities will provide further details on the legal proceedings as the case progresses.
