Bogalusa Sunset Acres Shooter Captured

BOGALUSA, La.  — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Sunset Acres Apartment Complex, according to the Bogalusa Police Department.

Kennis Loper was taken into custody at a residence on the southern side of the parish following an intensive investigation by local authorities. The arrest came after a male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the face at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Tuesday.

Responding to the emergency call, officers from the Bogalusa Police Department provided first aid to the victim until Northshore EMS and Bogalusa Fire Department teams arrived. The victim was then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Acting Assistant Chief Tervalon of the Bogalusa Police Department praised the officers for their swift response and dedication, which led to Loper’s prompt apprehension. Tervalon also thanked the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office for supporting the investigation.

As officers processed the scene and interviewed several witnesses, Loper emerged as the primary suspect. The methods used to locate and arrest Loper were not immediately disclosed, but the police department emphasized using various investigative techniques.

Further details regarding the incident and the ongoing investigation are expected to be released later. The condition of the victim is currently unknown.
