Ben’s Ford Christian Senior Gets Heisman Scholarship

In a prestigious announcement today, The Heisman Trophy Trust unveiled the names of School Winners for the 2023 Heisman High School Scholarship. Among the honorees is Bethany Noel Martin, a Ben’s Ford Christian School senior.

The Heisman High School Scholarship, an extension of the renowned Heisman Memorial Trophy, recognizes outstanding scholar-athletes among high school seniors nationwide. This year, over 4,878 students representing 4,129 schools vied for the coveted title. The selection process identified Martin as one of the School Winners, an honor bestowed upon 100 exceptional individuals.

The next stage in the competition will see these School Winners contending for the title of State Winners, with 12 ultimately advancing to the esteemed position of National Finalists. The final crowning of the male and female National Winners is scheduled for November 30, 2023. State Winners receive a $1,000 college scholarship, while National Finalists are awarded a $2,000 scholarship. The ultimate male and female National Winners each secure a $10,000 college scholarship.

The Heisman High School Scholarship program, established in 1994 through a partnership between Wendy’s and The Heisman Trophy Trust, extends the prestige of the Heisman Memorial Trophy to the nation’s most distinguished high school seniors. Emphasizing academic excellence and community engagement, the program has recognized over 600,000 students over 29 years, providing substantial financial support for college scholarships and high school academic and athletic programs.

To be eligible, applicants must graduate with the class of 2024, maintain a cumulative weighted GPA of at least a B (3.0), participate in recognized sports, and demonstrate leadership in their school and community.

The Heisman Trophy Trust, with a mission to uphold the legacy and integrity of the Heisman Memorial Trophy, not only awards the trophy annually but also supports youth development programs and the Heisman High School Scholarship program.
