Janice Hayman Thomas, 85, a long-time resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on December 28, 2022. A private service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on December 2, 2023.

Janice was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana, on November 13, 1937.  After graduating from Bogalusa High School, she entered the nursing program at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1958 and was married to the love of her life for 60 years, George “Slue” Thomas.  Janice’s career included working as his RN in Dr. Louis Polizzi’s office. Later, she became an OR Supervisor at Slidell Memorial Hospital and worked for 20 at Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville, where she retired as the Director of Nurses. She was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Janice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is survived by her daughters, Leisa Thomas Brent (Will), Tracy Zygmontowicz (John), Melissa Thomas; grandchildren Megan Brent Miller (John), Kristen Brent (husband Daniel Orser), Kaitlyn Brent (since deceased), John Zygmontowicz, Adam Zygmontowicz (Kacie), Nathan Bordes, Sophia Bordes; great-grandchildren, Aaron Swick, Blake Swick, Cayden Brent, D.J. Miller, Evee Hammar, Zelda Zygmontowicz; Sisters, Faye Dubay and Shari Prudhomme (Jim) and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George “Slue” Thomas; daughter, Michelle Lynn Thomas; granddaughter, Samantha Zygmontowicz; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hayman (Edith); and sister, Joanne Brown.
