Bogalusa Rebirth

Today is #GIVINGTUESDAY, and Bogalusa Rebirth is dedicating our efforts toward eliminating a public safety hazard, the bio-removal of an inner-city homeless encampment, which poses many hazards to our most at-risk community members. We urge you to be inspired to participate in #GivingTuesday, this International Day of Giving, which brings us the opportunity to bring our community together and shed light on affordable housing, this November, which is Homeless Awareness Month.

The current narrative around affordable housing often focuses on the negative aspects of the issue, such as homelessness and poverty. The lack of affordable housing is a growing problem in many cities across the United States. It is a complex issue that affects people from all walks of life, including low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities. With the property insurance crisis in Louisiana, along with housing inflation costs, cities like Bogalusa are plagued with a homeless population in dire need of local services.

Today, we will focus on the positive aspects of affordable housing and how building homes with hope has changed so many lives already. Bogalusa Rebirth wishes to work with partners to bring much-needed housing resources from one end of the spectrum of homelessness to prepare renters to become homeowners.

To support our cause, we are asking you to support our mission of improving the quality of life for all residents living in our city. One of the ways that Bogalusa Rebirth has worked at creating a healthier community has been by developing Health and Wellness through the Blight Remediation Fund. These funds are being utilized to clean up this more than 2-acre homeless encampment site. Unfortunately, the cost is exorbitant because of the additional risks associated with removing hazardous materials, such as toxic drug paraphernalia, so we need YOUR help!
