Rev. Rodney Barney is New Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist in Bogalusa

BOGALUSA, La. – The Metropolitan Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana, has announced the appointment of Rev. Rodney Barney as its new pastor. The official Pastoral Installation Service is set to be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM.
Rev. Barney, a seasoned clergyman, was licensed to preach on August 18, 1996, and was ordained on October 10, 1998, at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Mandeville, La. He has served under the guidance of Rev. James N. Winston, Sr. from 1996-2006 and Rev. George T. Burris at the Historic St. James Baptist Church in Madisonville, La., from 2006 until the present.
His tenure in ministry is marked by significant accomplishments, including his installation as Founder and Pastor of the Abundant Life Missionary Baptist Church in Covington, La., on April 22, 2012. Rev. Barney’s mission in ministry aligns with the principles of “The Great Commission” from St. Matthew 28:18-20, focusing on evangelizing, exalting, and equipping as core tenets of his pastoral approach.
Known for his spiritually insightful preaching and teaching, Rev. Barney is celebrated for his realistic and relatable interpretation of the Holy Word. His dedication to ministry extends beyond the pulpit, characterized by his passion for leading others to faith through compassion and empathy.
Rev. Barney and his wife, the former Mrs. Tiris L. Tyson, are parents to one son and four grandchildren. They are eagerly anticipating their new role at the Metropolitan Baptist Church and their involvement in the broader Bogalusa community.
