BOGALUSA, La. – In response to the anticipated increase in holiday traffic, the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) has announced the implementation of the “Click It or Ticket” campaign, beginning Saturday, Nov. 18th, and continuing through Saturday, Nov. 25th, according to Percy Knight, Acting Chief of Police of the Bogalusa Police Department.

The campaign, set to take place statewide, focuses on enforcing seat belt laws. Law enforcement officers will be actively patrolling and identifying drivers and passengers not wearing seat belts.

The LHSC has outlined the penalties for non-compliance with the seat belt law as a $50 fine for a first offense and subsequent violations incurring a $75 fine. Additionally, the Bogalusa Police Department will be conducting targeted seat belt enforcement within the city limits of Bogalusa during the campaign period, said Acting Chief Knight.

This enforcement campaign coincides with an annual period known for significant traffic increases due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The LHSC’s “Click It or Ticket” initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote safety across Louisiana roads.
