Washington Parish Drug Task Force Announces Successful Operation Leading to Arrest and Seizure of Methamphetamine

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. – In a significant milestone for law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in Washington Parish, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force announced today the successful culmination of a narcotics investigation that has led to the arrest of JaMarcus Berry. This operation has resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine and the protection of the community from further illegal narcotics distribution.
In October of 2023, the diligent detectives of the WPSO Drug Task Force initiated a comprehensive narcotics investigation into JaMarcus Berry, a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana. The investigation centered on Berry’s alleged involvement in the illegal distribution of methamphetamine within Washington Parish. During the course of this thorough investigation, dedicated detectives employed various tactics to secure several covert purchases of methamphetamine from JaMarcus Berry within Washington Parish.
On November 6th, 2023, the culmination of these investigative efforts came to completion as agents conducted a covert operation aimed at intercepting JaMarcus Berry during the transportation of methamphetamine into Washington Parish for an illegal narcotics transaction. The operation led to JaMarcus Berry’s apprehension at the Dollar General Store located at the intersection of Highway 16 and Highway 450.
At the time of his arrest, JaMarcus Berry (DOB 08/28/1992) was found in possession of a significant quantity of methamphetamine, totaling 1.7 ounces. Furthermore, a two-month-old infant was discovered inside the vehicle, amidst the presence of these illegal narcotics.
In a creditable display of dedication and professionalism, the entire investigation has resulted in the seizure of over 7 ounces of methamphetamine. This substantial seizure effectively stopped the further distribution of illegal narcotics within the Washington Parish community, safeguarding its residents. JaMarcus Berry has been booked into the Washington Parish Jail and faces multiple charges, including Distribution of Schedule 2 Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) – Meth (2 counts), Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 2 CDS – Meth, and Possession of a CDS in the Presence of a Juvenile. “Our Drug Task Force is committed to the safety and well-being of our community and will continue to pursue individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.
