Dr. Jim Carlson appointed Chancellor of Northshore Technical Community College

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Northshore Technical Community College (NTCC) has a new Chancellor, Jim Carlson, who has been the interim Chancellor since May.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Board of Supervisors appointed Carlson on Wednesday, Oct. 4. He has held the role of Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives and External Affairs at NTCC since 2018. He arrived at NTCC in 2005 and has continued his work with the school ever since.

“I am extremely humbled to be selected as Chancellor of Northshore Technical Community College,” Carlson said. “NTCC is my home, and I look forward to working alongside the faculty, staff, and administration to best serve our students and the entire Northshore community.”

Carlson, who has been an educator since 1998, was an instructor of speech and communication in Ellisville, Miss. at Jones County Junior College. He then went to Baton Rouge Community College as an Assistant Professor of Speech and was the department chair.

He has experience in recruiting and training faculty, staff and student officers at over 330 colleges and universities.
